Brown domination at Suffolk Downs
10 open races on Tuesday at Suffolk Downs saw six winners for Michelle Brown. Brown set a new career best of 71 open race winners in 2024, her six-timer taking her to 69 in 2025 with seven weeks still left of the year.
The night kicked off with a new eight-bend track record courtesy of Crafty Prospero. It's only seven days since Fabulous Heka set the latest clock, with Brown's son of Premier Fantasy taking a whopping 53 spots off Heka's winning time. He had been behind Patrick Janssens's bitch on that occasion but improved on his sectional by 70 spots.
Bucking Bucks produced the best time of the night over the 388m trip. He has proved himself hard to beat in his career when he times his break as well as he did last night, a 23.58 off a 4.48 split was more than enough to turn the form around with Gundy from last Tuesday.
A sharper four bends looks to have been the making of Savana Kilauea, the puppy going back-to-back after a smart win last week. He's won six of his 13 career starts to this point. Pro Uno, Gothic Opera and Savana Cosmic added to Brown's winners over two, four and six bends respectively.
Yahoo Megan has won 17 of her 22 starts at Suffolk Downs for Janssens. She had to work hard to beat Brown's Golden Acre, with her worst ever sectional at the track giving those who took the 1/5 starting price a moment of worry early on.
Jason Ray picked up a pair of winners on the night with Savana Sprite and Savana Tango. The former added to her win from last week in a sprint contest while the latter improved massively for having had a look at the track. Paul Rea's Hillcroft Mick was the other open race winner on the card, making a winning debut for the kennel.
Star Pelaw double for Blackbird
Offshore Dazl and Emers Niamh produced the goods for Dean Blackbird on Tuesday night at Star Pelaw over four and six bends respectively. The former showed the best early dash to the turn to get around in front, with the latter not hitting the front until the fifth bend but then careering away by seven and three-quarter lengths.
Good Chloe was an impressive sprint winner for Stuart Tighe, dipping under 14.50 on her first sprinting start. Her Star Pelaw debut had come over four bends but the drop to sprinting looked to be a help to her.
There was a decent tussle in the other open on the night as Up To Mischief and Ainster Jim came well clear of their rivals. It was the first named for Daniel Bell who got the better of the argument, picking up his second win in his three starts for the kennel.
