Shadow Storm to miss Hove

Shadow Storm, the GBGB Sprinter of the Year, misses an intended engagement at Hove on Saturday - but will be back soon.

Due to run in the heats of the Coral Sprint Trophy which supports the semi-finals of the Coral Brighton Belle at the Sussex venue, last year's Scurry Gold Cup and National Sprint has been withdrawn off-colour.

"He just wasn't right in himself but is a lot brighter today so will be back soon," said Charlie Rees, son and kennelhand with his dad and Hove trainer Richard.

"We'll look for a trial at Hove, maybe a race there, and then prepare him for the sprint competition he won at Towcester last year."

Shadow Storm, a winner of 10 of his 13 starts in the UK, raced unbeaten through the Time Greyhound Nutrition Sprint Trophy in his first UK campaign last year and will return to the Northamptonshire venue to defend that title.

Heats take place over 270m on Saturday, May 24, with the semis a week later and the final, supporting the Star Sports & Orchestrate Ltd. English Greyhound Derby Final, on Saturday, June 6.

In other news of niggles, it was announced at lunchtime that Jimmy Fenwick's Elusivenomore had picked up a slight injury when contesting the Juvenile at Towcester and will not be able to take part in the Star Sports and Orchestrate Ltd English Greyhound Derby.
