Romford looking for new trainer
Romford is advertising for a new trainer to join its ranks.
Mark Arkell, racing manager at the London Road venue, said: "With the change of direction of Maxine Locke’s kennels and her switch to Central Park, plus John Simpson planning his retirement, we are looking to strengthen.
"John's been here a while now and we'll be sad to see him go, but we wish him all the best when the time comes.
"But all this happening in the space of a few weeks leaves us potentially short and we feel it’s the right time to advertise. "Any interested trainers please contact me in the strictest of confidence and we will discuss further."
The Essex venue is due to hosts the heats of the Coral Coronation Cup on Friday, albeit with all three of the Entain tracks - Romford along with Hove and Monmore - cancelling racing due to the hot weather across Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, Romford is very much on weather watch over the next 24 hours.
Arkell added: "We will make a final decision on Friday's meeting tomorrow, but at present the forecast is too high to race. We are hoping for a change of weather."
*Nottingham, Central Park and Valley have cancelled their meetings on Thursday. Central Park will also not race on Friday, but are hopeful Saturday's Arc Kent Silver Salver card can go ahead. Rain and slightly lower temperatures have been forecast for Saturday.
