Aladdin back to form at Swindon

The highlight of the two opens at Swindon on Tuesday evening was the return to winning ways of Droopys Aladdin in Division A of the Blunsdon Standard.

A quarter-finalist in the Star Sports/TRC Greyhound Derby at Towcester, Mike Burton’s promising sort was sent off at 1/2 for the 476m contest and justified favouritism with ease.

The July 2023 whelp wasn’t the best away from trap one but showed his tremendous early speed to turn in front and quickly skipped well clear entering the back straight.

There were never any doubts from that point onwards and while his kennelmate Droopys Superstar stayed on well for second, the latter was beaten three lengths as the winner stopped the clock at 28.02.  Baggios Coyote was a long way back in third.

Division B of the Blunsdon Standard went the way of Voyage Stanley, who won at 15/8 in 28.21 (-10).

Ballymac Loca was first to show but she just had her back legs clipped when looking likely to go round in front, and that allowed the Paul Foster-trained winner to sweep into the lead on the outside.

He soon raced clear and came home eight and a quarter lengths clear of Droopys Nijinsky, who pipped Droopys Priority for second place.
