Litter of 10 for Lively Lauren – Derby-Winning Bloodlines Continue

Greyhound racing fans have plenty to be excited about with the birth of Lively Lauren’s first litter, sired by Dorotas Wildcat. The former Brighton Belle runner-up and Regency finalist whelped 10 pups on July 1st, and early signs suggest this could be a very special litter.

Lively Lauren - Running Greyhound

Co-owner Joe Andrews is dreaming of glory with Lively Lauren’s litter of pups, born earlier this month and already generating huge interest in the greyhound breeding world.

A top-class performer on the track, Lively Lauren was runner-up in the Brighton Belle and third in the Premier Greyhound Racing Regency.

Now retired, she’s stepped into the world of greyhound breeding — and her first litter has turned heads for all the right reasons.

Born on 1st July – 3 Dogs and 7 Bitches

Lauren gave birth to ten puppies — three dogs and seven bitches — on 1st July, the same day as co-owner Joe’s daughter, making it an extra special occasion.

The litter is by 2018 English Greyhound Derby winner Dorotas Wildcat, a hugely successful sire, and the pups are being reared at Terry Dartnall’s kennels in Middlesex.

Complications at Birth – But a Happy Outcome

While the bloodline is elite, the birth didn’t come easy.

“It wasn’t very straightforward,” said Joe. “She gave birth over two or three days during the boiling hot weather. She had a bit of a hard time, but Terry and the team did a great job.”

Feeding was also tricky in the early days, with five puppies needing to rotate on and off for feeding. However, now both mum and pups are thriving.

“Terry says she’s an amazing mum. She’s got all the pups there, she’s well in herself and looking after them.”

Breeding Interest – "Impeccable Bloodlines"

The pups are already generating strong demand — even before they were born.

“The interest has been massive,” said Andrews. “Even Lauren’s dam, Art Of Illusion, has thrown some real quality. It’s not a one-off — this line keeps producing.”

The tentative plan is to keep two dogs and one bitch, with the rest likely to be available to owners and breeders.

“It’s impeccable breeding, and the messages started coming in before they were even born.”

Lauren’s Racing Legacy

Lively Lauren’s pedigree includes multiple Category One finals and a track record-breaking career:

  • Runner-up – Brighton Belle Final

  • Third – Regency Final (2023)

  • Track record holder (x2) – 650m Oxford

“The Regency final was my favourite,” said Andrews. “She led most of the way and only lost out to Space Jet. It was a great final and an amazing experience to be part of.”

What’s Next for the Litter?

The puppies will be reared and educated at Dartnall’s kennel, with future plans still to be confirmed.

With both Dorotas Wildcat and Lively Lauren bringing elite credentials to the table, this litter could be one of the most exciting to follow in the coming years — especially with Category One glory firmly in their family tree.
