Saturday night at Dundalk saw the opening round of the Bar 1 Betting Irish Sprint Cup, with the draw now made for the second round this coming weekend.

There are six heats of the second round of the Bar 1 Betting Irish Sprint Cup on Saturday night at Dundalk, with the first four in each of the heats making it through to the quarter-final draw.
Quickest in the opening round was Magical Luka, back on home soil after exiting the Arc Silver Salver at the semi-final stage at Central Park. There were two other winners who dipped under the 21-second barrier in Tiermana Dream and The Other Aari.
There was a first career defeat for Crafty Coolio behind The Other Aari after his four straight successes to open his form up with. He may have learnt more from that than from any of the wins, and it will be interesting to see how he goes in the second round when faced with the same rival.
