The first semi-final of the £11,500 to the winner Category One BresBet Steel City Cup, will see Bouncing Monarch line up from T1. Likely to start as the short-priced favourite the January 2024 youngster will take all the beating granted a clear run into the first corner.

The second semi-final at 3.27 will see Romeo Steel line up from T1 for 2025 Star Sports / TRC English Greyhound Derby winning trainer Patrick Janssens. Romeo Steel has won four on the bounce, including the Category One Click Competitions East Anglian Derby at Yarmouth. If he brings his trapping boots on Sunday, October 12, he can safely book his place in the final a week later.

The third semi-final at 3.47 is a cracker with Romeo Ability, Droopys Trade, Chelms Bear, Toddys Tank and Jacktavern Chief all in with live chances. All eyes on the break. Can Droopys Trade trap well and clear his kennelmate on his inside? Will Chelms Bear turn handy and make his move down the back straight? Will Newcastle raider Toddys Tank, ping out from T4 and make all or will Jacktavern Chief take advantage of the draw and skip clear out the second bend?
