Betting update – Premier Greyhound Racing Champion Stakes
Following on from the first-round heats of the Premier Greyhound Racing Champion Stakes at the London Road circuit, Romford, let’s take a look at the outright betting market ahead of the semi-finals which take place on Friday, October 10.
New Destiny heads the market at 15/8 (BresBet) with bet365 going 13/8 about the Mark Wallis-trained railer. Gary The Arb is next in at 4s with Kilmore Dancer a 9/2 chance with BresBet, Skybet and Paddy Power.
Tiffield Tarquin impressed in the first-round heats, making all in 35.25 following a smart 13.50 sectional. Sheffield-based bookmaker BresBet are offering 10s about the wide runner, with Unibet and Betfred looking to avoid him by going 8s.
Coral Coronation Cup winner Fabulous Sonique is next in at 14s with bet365, BOYLE Sports and Star Sports. The Mark Wallis-trained railer will line up from T1 in the semi-finals with kennelmate and outright favourite New Destiny in T2. Kilmore Dancer will also line up in the same semi-final from T4 in what promises to be a cracker.
Premier Greyhound Racing Champion Stakes best prices outright:
New Destiny 15/8, Gary The Arb 4, Kilmore Dancer 9/2, Tiffield Tarquin 10, Fabulous Sonique 14, Newinn Cloud 16, Untold Paanga 22, Droopys Alldeway 25, Moving Force 33, Wrighty 33, Teddie 33, Kevins Rocket 33, Strathrannoch 40, Izzys Tenpin 40, Newinn Deejay 50, Too Wright 80, Whitewood Libre 125, Boom Boom Bullet 125.
For those looking at each-way options, bookmakers are offering three places and a quarter the odds. Untold Paanga is a 22s chance with Skybet and Paddy Power but only 18s, with track sponsors Coral highlighting the importance of shopping around for the value. Coral are offering 25s about Droopys Alldeway following his impressive first-round victory. The Paul Young-trained October 2023 son of Droopys Sydney has plenty to find on the clock following that 35.68 victory, but the price on offer could tempt a few in. Skybet and Paddy Power have clipped Droopys Alldeway in the outright market and only go 16s about the early-paced railer.
Of those at bigger prices, Strathannoch could appeal at 40s with BresBet. The Yarmouth raider made all in the Champion Stakes trial race a couple of weeks back, clocking 35.43 and then finished second behind Droopys Alldeway in the first-round heats. If he brings his trapping boots on Friday evening, he could go well from T5.
The first semi-final of the Premier Greyhound Racing Champion Stakes will see Gary The Arb line up from T1 for trainer Belinda Green. The July 2022 son of Dorotas Wildcat bolted up in the first-round heats winning by 11 lengths in 34.95. If you fancy Gary The Arb for outright honours bet365, Star Sports, Skybet and Paddy Power all go 4s about the Hove raider. Tiffield Tarquin looks well-drawn out in T6 and looks solid value at 10s with BresBet in the outright market.
The second semi-final of the PGR Champion Stakes at 8.36 on Friday, October 10, looks wide-open with plenty in with chances. Four railers and two middle seeds line up and this could be on the break. Untold Paanga is drawn a little wider than normal in T4 but has chances with a ping break. Newinn Deejay will be staying on well from T5 and could appeal at 50s outright with bet365 and BresBet. Moving Force is a 33s chance for outright honours with bet365 and BresBet. If the Seamus Cahill-trained middle seed pops out from T6 he can book his place in the £20,000 to the winner Category One final on Friday, October 17.
The third semi-final of the Premier Greyhound Racing Champion Stakes at 8.54 is a cracker. Mark Wallis goes into the race with Fabulous Sonique, New Destiny and Kilmore Dancer, three of the top five in the outright betting market. All eyes on the break here. Can Sonique lead round form a rails draw? Will New Destiny avoid a bump and qualify for the final? Can Kilmore Dancer produce a repeat of the smart 13.70 sectional recorded in the in the first-round heats? This promises to be a cracker.
