Coral Romford Puppy Cup – first-round heat betting

The Category One Coral Romford Puppy Cup starts on Friday, September 5 and the bookmakers have priced up the outright market and sponsors Coral have now also priced up the heats.

Heat one at 7.11 looks wide-open with Coral going 5/2 the field. Underground Fizz, trained by Paul Young, heads the market with the John Mullins-trained Towcester raider Ted On Fire next in at 3s.

Paul Young goes into heat two with odds-on favourite Droopys Alldeway in T1 and Birthday Bullet in T2. Alldeway is a 4/5 chance for the heat and 16s outright with Coral.

Heat three will see Vermithor line up from T1 for Mark Wallis. The lightly raced son of Burgess Pucks shows plenty of early pace in his races and he could be the ideal Romford type. Coral currently go 10/11 with Noellie next in from T2 at 7/2.

In heat four of the Coral Romford Puppy Cup at 8.01 all eyes will be on the Kevin Hutton-trained flying machine Magical Luka from T4. The October 2023 son of King Sheeran is 1/5 for the heat and 1/2 for outright honours with the sponsors. Tasty Turkish looks an interesting runner from T1, he could attract support at the current prices on offer.

Heat five at 8.19 will see Crafty Santino line up from T5. The October 2023 daughter of Ballymac Cashout recorded a 23.91 clock over course and distance two weeks ago and heads into the competition as the second favourite in the outright betting market at 8s.

The sixth and final heat at 8.36 will see March On Luna line up from T3 for Yarmouth trainer Craig Morris. Luna is very lightly raced and is on the comeback trail following season. She looks the type to improve throughout the competition, so this is all about qualification for the next round.
