Diamond shines in Curraheen Park solo
Bockos Diamond produced the quickest ever performance over 330 yards at Curraheen Park in a stunning solo trial on Saturday night.
The sprint track record at the Cork venue was set by Quietly in 2016 with a time of 17.14 and Bockos Diamond blew that out of the water with a scintillating 16.84 workout at the weekend.
Graham Holland’s star went unbeaten in the 2024 BoyleSports Irish Greyhound Derby and finished second to Droopys Plunge in this year's Star Sports/TRC English Greyhound Derby at Towcester in June.
With the defence on his BoyleSports Irish Greyhound Derby crown next on the agenda, the September 2022 son of Dorotas Wildcat and Seaglass Shadow is clearly in sparkling form.
The sponsors reacted to the trial by shortening Bockos Diamond from 9/2 to 4/1 favourite in the ante-post market for the the Shelbourne Park classic.
The BoyleSports Irish Greyhound Derby gets underway on Friday 22nd August, with the first-round draw taking place on Monday 18th August, and culminates on Saturday 27th September.
