Dimmock, Henry and Foot with Sunday doubles

Just four opens on the Sunday card at Towcester but that didn't stop Heather Dimmock producing a pair of winners led by Jazzy Ace over 460m. An A1 winner at Oxford for Kevin Hutton, he has landed six of his 11 starts for Dimmock. They have included opens at Sheffield and Hove over 500m but that trip is as far as he wants, making a successful debut over this shorter four-bend trip.

Dimmock's double was kicked off by As Happy As Bryn who was not the quickest into stride but he paced up to the bend well on the inside to grab the early lead. That proved decisive with Hutton's Southfield Hugo never able to find a way past him, having been sent off a warm favourite. 

Hutton had better luck with Venetian Will. His stamina kicked in late on in the day to grab the money as they turned for home in a 500m contest. He has plenty of back class as a Cat One finalist over this same track and trip last year, and having won over 630m at Monmore on a couple of occasions in the spring, he always looked like he was going to come out on top. 

There was a 712m maiden on the card which was won by Michael Field's On The Razl. He had only an A6 win on his card at Dunstall Park prior to this but had given notice when stepped up to 660m at that track that staying would be his game. He was helped by a coming together in front of him which allowed him to slip around the inside at the final bend but is only a puppy, and probably still has plenty more to come. 

Sheffield brace for Henry and Foot

Sheffield's 660m distance is just tailor-made for Savanaregimental who ran his rivals ragged by 11 lengths for Diane Henry. He was winning his fourth straight over the six-bend trip at Owlerton, and his 14th overall since joining Henry. This was also his fourth time in the top seven of the year over this distance, with two of the other three coming from Droopys Flare. 

Betgoodwin Tutts justified short odds to kick off the double, getting up late on in the day to pick up the win. He had found a little bit of trouble in the early stages but he was strong enough to get himself out of trouble. 

There was also a double for Glenn Foot with Foulkscourt Bono getting away and gone in the first open on the card. He has shown plenty of pace wherever he had gone, coming on plenty for his first look at the track last week, gaining revenge on Good Levi who had won that contest. 

Foot's other winner was Jacktavern Trump who showed the best pace of the inside runners to the opening bend, sliding up the inside of early leader Bit View Bella at around the quarter mark and kicking for home. He was only on his third start over here but he was a solid enough performer in Ireland prior to this with wins at Thurles and Clonmel.

Lisa Stephenson had the other winner with the progressive So Its Strate. This was a third win in four starts, his sole defeat in that time coming in the semis of the Time 3 Steps to Victory when he was only a length off qualifying for the final. He shaped as if further is going to suit him once more, coming from behind to stop the clock in 29 dead with a powerful display.
