Driver doubles up at Nottingham

By far the most impressive winner of Monday night at Nottingham was Skyfall Mini who ran riot for Esther Driver by six and three-quarter lengths. It was the third open race win of her career, not producing quite such a strong sectional as she had done in the past, but still more than enough to see her clear from an early stage.

Driver's double was brought up by Mossrich Frazer in the second heat of a sprint competition. Sent off the shortest priced favourite of the night, he was a very comfortable winner, showing improved form since he has dropped back to two bends from four.

The quicker of the two winners in the sprint was Buster Eight for Robert Copping. He was a smart type in Ireland, winning a Cork sprint in a very decent time as well as winning over four bends at Waterford. It was a taking UK debut after a couple of smart Yarmouth trials, and there should be plenty more to come from him.

Velvet Madrid picked up the win in the other race on the night, a Standard final. She went straight left out of the traps which could have ended her own race, doing the odds-on favourite in the red jacket no favours. Despite the early trouble, Peter Holland's winner showed a good attitude to run down the leader, an impressive win given that that was Killieford Goram who stays further.
