Driver on track for career best number within weeks

There were only two open races at Nottingham last night, with Esther Driver responsible for both winners. They took Driver to 40 open race victories in 2026, just eight behind her total for 2025.

No Better Feelin showed his love for the Colwick Park venue once more, notching up his 13th open race win at the track. He is less than two months away from becoming a veteran but he is still performing right at the top of his game. The 2025 Derby semi-finalist made the final of the Laurels back in the spring, his third Category One decider of his career.

His 29.43 last night is tied for the 14th quickest time of 2026 at the track and is his second fastest effort over 500m there this year. He is also responsible for the fastest 480m time of the year so far which he had set when winning his heat of this dual distance competition a week ago.

Frederico has picked up the first of the two opens for Driver, getting his head in front late on over 480m. It was his sixth start since joining from Chris Fereday, winning for the fourth time, and bringing up a hat-trick of wins in the process. This track looks to suit hime more than Monmore did and he is stepping forward with every outing.
