Droopys Bookem tops Northern Flat betting

Droopys Bookem heads the betting for the Time Greyhound Nutrition Northern Flat at Newcastle.

The Category One event starts on Thursday evening and was won last year by Jimmy Fenwick’s Wicky Ned, who went on to be crown 2024 Greyhound of the Year.

Droopys Bookem made a big impression when reaching the semi-finals of the Star Sports/TRC Greyhound Derby at Towcester and he is 4/1 across the board for this 480m competition.

However, the Tom Heilbron-trained favourite goes in a hot first heat, featuring 2024 Derby finalist Sunnyside Broxi (10/1) and Bresbet Gymcrack and Arena Racing Company Puppy Final winner Elusivenomore (20/1), who is a kennelmate of Wicky Ned.

Heilbron’s Unanimous Leon is also available at 10/1, having finished second to Wicky Ned in the PGR All England Cup final over the same course and distance in December.

There are also six heats of the Arena Racing Company Angel of the North on the card and Icemans Girl is a warm order in the outright betting.

Nathan Hunt’s bitch is a top price of 11/8 with bet365 as she arrives in excellent form following her facile triumph on Derby final night and an impressive success in a trial stakes here last Thursday.

Despite being turned over at short odds in a trial stakes, Bang On Edith is next in at 13/2, while Fenwick’s local duo of Coppice Saphire and Ballymac Camilla can both be backed at 12/1.
