Eddie ready for Time-backed Dundalk International tilt

Lennies Eddie was welcomed home to Ireland on Monday as any champion should be with balloons adorning his kennel, some 48 hours after his famous win in the Star Sports & Orchestrate Ltd. English Greyhound Derby Final at Towcester.

Arriving back at his record-breaking trainer Paul Hennessy's Gowran base in Co. Kilkenny, the brilliant Classic-winning son of Good Cody was reported in great form by the handler who claimed a third English Derby success at a third English Derby venue with the Lee Craze-owned runner in the weekend's £125,000 showpiece.

"Myself and Susan decided to stay over an extra day with Laurence (Tuffin) and the team and travelled back on Sunday and into Monday on the ferry. Eddie was fine throughout, as he has been during our travels, but I'm sure he's happy to be home - as we are, too. "Thanks to everyone at Towcester," added Hennessy.

"The new management have made great strides in a short space of time - and Saturday night was exceptional - and we look forward to returning. Thanks also to Laurence and Arlene (McCartan) for looking after us so well."

Hennessy confirmed that the Dundalk International would be Lennies Eddie's next race having accepted an invitation from the border track's Jim Martin. The valuable 20,000 euros one-off, backed by Time Nutrition, takes place on July 12.
