Yarmouth staged an interesting trial session ahead of the Click Competitions 79th East Anglian Derby in two weeks' time.


East Anglian Derby hopefuls in Yarmouth trials
With the Click Competitions 79th East Anglian Derby a fortnight away, there were some notable runners in the trial session at Yarmouth on Wednesday evening.
The Category one event gets underway on Wednesday 3rd September, with the semi-finals a week later and the final taking place on Wednesday 17th September.
Once again, £15,000 is up for grabs for the winner of the prestigious competition and last year it was won by Druids Say Go, who went unbeaten through the event for Patrick Janssens
Fastest of Wednesday's trial session over the competition trip of 462m was the Glenn Hockings-trained Heres Ringo, who has winning six-bend form at the track and stopped the clock at an impressive 27.64, with the track marked +10.
Afzal Ali’s Da Monster was next quickest as he completed his solo trial in 27.78, while Roanna Sharp continued her good recent form at Towcester with a pleasing 27.86 workout for Cornelius Condon.
Paul Young had a couple of notable representatives in Le Pur Sang, who went round in 27.84, and Bowmers Wildcat, who posted a 28.17 solo.
However, Young’s Bombay Birch disappointed in his 29.14 trial.
Sprint trials
The Sharon Knights-trained Romantic Storm was the fastest of those who trialled over 277m with his 16.57 (+5), while Fleetwood Breeze and Teejays Chelms clocked 16.67 and 17.01 respectively.
