Entain Enhances Greyhound Racing Experience and Welfare Standards Across UK Stadia
Entain, one of the UK’s leading operators of greyhound racing venues, has today announced ways to enhance its customer experience and programmes aimed at continuing to lead on animal welfare standards.
Entain will support a range of upgrades, including:
Track improvements at Hove:
Major drainage works will ensure a consistently high-quality racing surface, making every race safer and more exciting for spectators.
Continued support for greyhound welfare:
Upgraded our kennels at Albourne and ongoing welfare initiatives, meaning every dog receives the best care, both on and off the track. Customers can feel confident knowing they are supporting venues that lead the industry in animal welfare and rehoming.
Modernisation facilities plans across three tracks:
A full review of building infrastructure and customer facilities at our three greyhound tracks with a plan of work to be completed over the winter to ensure that we are giving the best possible experience for our greyhounds, customers, owners, trainers and colleagues.
The popular racing programme across all three tracks will remain the same, with 17 race days each week across the three tracks. Attendances across the tracks, including in hospitality, are up across the year
.All three tracks recently celebrated their most successful National Greyhound Week ever. Initiatives included free entry, family fun days, meet-and-greet sessions with retired racers, kids’ activities, and charity fundraising for Prostate Cancer UK and Children With Cancer UK.
Gary Bolton, Stadia Director at Entain, commented:"This support is about more than bricks and mortar – it’s about creating an engaging and enjoyable environment for our customers, colleagues, and greyhounds. We’re proud to be leading the way in greyhound racing and welfare."
Leading the Industry in Greyhound Welfare
Entain’s commitment to greyhound welfare is central to its strategy. Over the past year, the company has launched a series of initiatives aimed at improving rehoming outcomes for retired greyhounds, resulting in a significant reduction in the number of retired greyhounds awaiting adoption at its tracks:
New Homing Policy: All owners and trainers at Entain tracks are now required to follow a clear rehoming protocol, ensuring dogs are physically and behaviourally ready for adoption.
UK Partnerships: Entain has strengthened formal ties with seven UK rehoming centres, including Clarks Farm and Romford Retired Greyhounds, expanding local adoption capacity.
International Rehoming Scheme: Over 60 retired greyhounds in the UK have already been successfully rehomed in the US through partnerships with Greyhound Pets of America and other accredited centres.
Entain also launched a new website (www.greyhoundrehoming.com) and a three-part video series featuring well-known personalities aimed at promoting the adoption of retired greyhounds. It has delivered outstanding results, with over 3.9 million video views and 22,500 website visits to date.
Engagement across social media and rehoming centres has risen with one centre reporting a record number of summer adoptions following the campaign.
