Entire first litter of Goldies Mabbutt are race winners

Goldies Mabbutt litter update

This time last year, Graham Banks did a feature on a young litter by King Sheeran out of Goldie's Mabbutt. At that point they were nine months old, being reared partly in Ireland and partly in the UK. 

Eight pups in total were in the litter and they have all managed to not only get to the track but each of them has won at least one race, which given they are still three months off losing their puppy status, has been a very solid start to their career. 

At the time of writing, they have won 18 races between them, with the entire litter in training with Chris Fereday.

Sugar King

Dog of the Month winner at Monmore in June, he has been the pick of the litter to this early point. The winner of six of his 10 career starts, he kicked off with an A9 victory back on May 9, scoring in an A2 last week. Those six wins have come in his last seven starts, and the chances are that there is going to be more to come from him. 

Sugar Gold

Is yet to step up from sprint racing at this point, winning a pair of his 12 runs, both in D4 grade. He has a couple of sub 16-second times to his credit and has the distinction of being the only debut winner in the litter. Three runner-up efforts have also peppered his form, with two of those seeing him going under by a short head.

Kurious George

Another with a pair of sprint wins to his credit, he has been hitting the woodwork in his four-bend races of late. He lacks the early pace of a few of those in the litter but he seems to stay the 480m distance well enough. Still looks a bit of a baby to the eye in his races, so as and when the penny drops, he could be another to climb the grades.

Yama King 

Boasts a win over both 264m and 480m as well as a trio of runner-up efforts. He has plenty of straight line speed but has so far struggled to turn left, a very wide runner. Like most of the litter, there is plenty of natural pace, he just needs to find a way to channel it.

Sugar Sherbut

Picked up two wins in her first three starts in A10 and A9 grades. Like most of the litter, she has plenty of pace about her at her level, though with just seven races under her belt, she is the one with the fewest races under her belt. Those early gears should stand her in good stead as she strengthens up.

Afternoondelight

A D4 winner back in May, he notched up his first win over four bends on Monday, taking an A10 contest. His sectionals are generally going in the right direction which should keep him competitive another grade or two higher in time, showing a decent attitude to put his head down on Monday to keep digging to pick up his win. 

Yama Queen

Has just one win to her credit to this point when beating her sister Cup Of Sherry in a D4 contest. She was also in action on Monday, runner-up in that same grade, which was the second best effort that she has produced. 

Cup Of Sherry

A D4 win is her only success on the card, not trapping well enough in sprints, just pacing up into the pack at the bend. She had one trial over four bends when a long way adrift of what she should be capable of, quickly back sprinting after that. If she could find some trapping boots, she'll be ok.
