First trial stake for the East Anglian Derby is tonight
Simon Franklin is looking forward to the upcoming East Anglian Derby where £15,000 is on offer to the winning greyhound in the 80th running.

East Anglian Derby is fast approaching
Yarmouth stadium director Simon Franklin is looking forward to the countdown to what promises to be a special East Anglian Derby this year. Saturday (tonight) sees the first trial stakes for the upcoming Click Competitions-sponsored Category One annual and will continue what is a busy holiday period at the seaside venue.
This year's event will be the 80th running of the East Anglian Derby and £15,000 will await the greyhound who succeeds last year's brilliant winner Romeo Steel.
"It's always a busy but enjoyable time for us here at Yarmouth and we're especially looking forward to the 80th running of the EA Derby.
"I'm already reading trainers pinpointing the Derby here as a possible target for their top runners and that's always good to read and hear about and we're staging a number of trial stakes in the run-up to the big event.
"In addition our racing office is always there to assist outside trainers, as much as our own, with trials for their runners to get acquainted or re-acquainted with Yarmouth before the heats here on Wednesday, September 2."
Entries close for The Click Competitions 80th East Anglian Derby at noon on Thursday, August 27. Heats follow on September 2 with the semi-finals on Wednesday, September 9 and the Grand Final on Wednesday, September 16.
