Green in red-hot form

Belinda Green won nearly half of the 11 opens at Hove on Thursday night with a brilliant five-timer.

The local handler kicked off her winners when Behemoth made all in the maiden sprint and the 4/6 favourite always looked in control as he scored in 16.53 (+5).

Then came a dominant performance from Pawsome Bullet, who quickly asserted in a Coral Gold Collar trial stakes as he justified 2/7 favouritism with ease in 29.47 (+10).

Swift Javis (evens fav) struck for the kennel with a gutsy success over 695m from the game Ivy Hill Cherry in 42.12, while Buddys Bullet (8/13 fav) made it four wins on the spin for Green when powering home to get up late on in 500m maiden contest in 29.49.

Green brought up the fiver-timer with a sprint victory from Bingo Bullet, whose success was never in doubt following a ping break and she stopped the clock at 16.30.

The Carl Gardiner-trained Droopys String (11/4) won the other Coral Gold Collar trial stakes with an impressive trap-to-line success in 29.73 (-10) from the well-fancied Gingers Prince.

There were two finals on the menu at the Sussex track and they both went the way of Paul Young.

First up was the Coral 500 Maiden Trophy final and it saw Bleuy Bullet make full use of his lovely make-up as the sole wide seed to pace up into an early lead.

The 6/1 chance hit the front off the second turn before scooting clear and coming home three and a quarter lengths clear of Two Spot to strike in 29.74.

Young’s winner also wore stripes in the Coral Winner Of One 500 Trophy final as Feeling The Love followed up his success in the heats.

The 9/4 favourite turned on the shoulder of Yougo Freddie before surging past that rival approaching the third bend and stayed on nicely to score by a length and a half in 29.53.

Young brought up a treble on the night when his Noellie just prevailed in a ding-dong battle with Missile One over 515m as he crossed the line in 30.58 (-10).

Dave Mullins landed the first of the opens when his Zenith Jimbombom (6/5fav) won well over 500m in 29.19 (+10), while the Seamus Cahill-trained Cloheena Boyce (8/11fav) hacked up in a 500m maiden in 29.55.

Fenwick on fire at Newcastle

The feature event at Newcastle was the Arena Racing Company Winner of One Standard final, which went the way of 11/10 favourite Howay Tonali.

Well backed as the fastest heat winner, Jimmy Fenwick’s charge ensured his supporters never had a moment’s worry as he blasted out and made all with ease in 28.43.

That completed a treble for Fenwick who had earlier struck with Ballymac Shontae (5/6fav), who was a trap-to-line winner of a 480m maiden in 28.50, and Sole Mio, who won with the ease his odds of 2/11 suggested he would in 28.35.

Jacktavern Lab (1/2fav) took the other open on the card with a facile triumph over 640m in 38.73.
