Four winners for Wallis as we look over the top runs at the 19 tracks

We take a look over the last week where Mark Wallis had another exceptional week as his team claimed four of the 19 performance of the week awards at the British tracks.

British Performance of the Week

At the risk of sounding like a broken record, it was another outstanding week for Imperial Kennels and Team Wallis. Proper Heiress produced the quickest 515m time of the year when he landed a sixth Category One title of 2025 in the Coral Olympic final on Saturday night. It has been an incredible 12 months for the top standard performer in the country at present,

While Vhagar had to work a little harder than Proper Heiress to take Category One victory at Oxford on Sunday, there seemed to be an air of inevitability to her getting back past Romeo Empire who produced a mighty effort himself. She added this second Category One to her Summer Stayers from Monmore, very well suited to the easier six-bend contests.

At Newcastle it was Strike It Skye who made a long trip up to the track a shorter one on the way home. She only made her debut in early-August, quickly making up into one of the top bitches in the country. She doesn't lose her puppy status until the end of this month, so there could be a bigger year to come from her in 2026.

Speaking of a shorter six bends, we have Romford where Fabulous Sonique continues to be the dominant force. She has now made 100 starts for Mark Wallis and is showing no signs of losing either her enthusiasm or her ability. She needed to knuckle down to get the job done on Friday night, but get it done she did.

Although the National Sprint is not a Category One event, the quality of the field that Nottingham were rewarded with was every bit a top level one. The top performance was from Ballinakill Liam but we can't give a void race winner getting the performance of the week. That is not to take anything away form the excellent run from Roanna Mamba who has proved to be unbeatable over the last couple of months.

Born Racer went out in the first round at Nottingham but promptly went to Towcester six days later and put in a top 10 run of the year on his first run at the track. He was an exceptional sprinter in Ireland when in the care of Jennifer O'Donnell, and that ability is clearly still there on this performance.

There are a lot of sprint wins on the list this week with Central Park producing another in King Presley. His 23 open race wins leads all dogs in the country, and although he lacks a competition win, his sheer volume of runs plus breaking the track record at Central Park on two occasions should give some consideration for a sprinter of the year nomination.

The reopening of Suffolk Downs has been a blessing for a number of Michelle Brown-trained runners, including Golden Acre. She has produced some flying sectionals since the track came back, winning her last two starts in solid times. It could well see her run up a sequence.

Dunstall Park has only been open a few months but Butlers Lane has already made it her second home, extending her unbeaten run at the track for Barry Denby on Friday night. She is 8/8 there now, including the four rounds of the Premier Greyhound Racing Oaks and although she will be a veteran next September, it will be interesting to see if she can maintain that level to try to defend her crown.

There were a couple of solid runs at Sheffield on Sunday but the field that Tricky Wiggles beat included a number of runners who have won the performance of the week themselves in recent times which is enough to swing the vote in his favour.

Staying in Yorkshire with Gothic Joshua who produced a career-best run at Doncaster on Saturday night. He has been flying since joining the kennel of Samantha Lapidge, already a triple winner in December. Saturday's run was the fifth quickest time of the year over 450m at the track.

There were some decent types in opens at Star Pelaw last week but it was Glenn Foot's Burrow Bell in an A1 contest who took the top spot with a sub 25.50 run. She has won four of her last five now but this effort stands out above them.

Elsewhere in the region, Emers Bean took the award at Sunderland, a track where it was another week of graded only action. The veteran put up her best performance since August in her A1 success on her 101st start. It was win number 22 of her career.

Heartandahalf won the Yarmouth award for the second week in a row as the quickest winner from the track championships on Saturday afternoon. He picked up a pair of wins last week, after Outdoor Cracker achieved that feat the week before. He was back on double winning duty but it was not enough to stop Heartandahalf from another performance of the week.

Monmore saw a top grade win for Zebedee Cluasa. He has won his last three A1 starts at the track, sandwiching open race trips to Nottingham and Dunstall Park. Part of a consistent litter than contains Bang On Edith, they now have 55 wins from the five of them combined.

Kinsley saw a sprint winner in Grovenor Tails, scoring for the sixth time in her career on just her 18th start. She has an open win over Doncaster's 483m trip so she is far from just a sprinter but D2 company suited her well, winning for the second time in three starts at that level.

Ballymac Kolbe has naturally not had the same attention as his littler siblings Ballymac Kobe and Ballymac Lucia, not his half-sibling Ballymac Taylor, but he has been a fair enough performer in his own right, picking up a D2 win last week at Swindon. All eight of his wins have come in graded races at the track and this was right up there with the best of them.

At Harlow last week Hollyhill Archie became just the third dog in 2025 to stop the clock under 15 seconds. It went into the top three runs of his career, the other two of those came in December 2024 so there must be something about this time of year that he likes.

We end with a trip to Valley where things have felt a little more positive over the last week or so. Rollerball landed the top performance of the week here, her third win of the award in the last four weeks. She is the last of three veterans to grab an award this week.
