Friday's Tips

*** Coppice Saphire - 8.23 Sunderland

** Sunnyside Jayden - 9.23 Sunderland

* Droopys Trigger - 7.43 Sunderland

It was an impressive win last week from Coppice Saphire in her first race at Sunderland. She had been in smart form at her home track prior to that with a run to the final of the Arc Angel of the North for a second consecutive year, finding just Slingshot Poppy too good. She can track the one dog around here and prove too strong where it matters.

A sprint at 9.23 can see Sunnyside Jayden home in front. He has some very smart form at the majority of the tracks in the north-east, including when winning at Star Pelaw last time out. He has won three of the five times that he has started from the four jacket at this track, one of those defeats coming over 450m by a short head and one in a sprint where he was badly hampered at the opening bend.

There is a fascinating contest at 7.43 as Droopys Trigger takes on Brickhill Tamika. The latter has been seen primarily over two bends since arriving from Ireland, but he showed at Galway, that he just about gets 480m. This 450m should be fine but in Droopys Trigger, he meets not only a rival who has taken on smart company but also one who is a stronger stayer over this distance. That can see Savva Roberts's dog come out on top.
