Friday's Tips

*** Slingshot Poppy - 7.59 Sunderland 1/2

** Dadurunrun - 6.59 Dunstall Park 9/4

* Tasty Turkish - 7.44 Romford 10/3

Although Sunderland's 7.59 is the Classic Consolation, it feels like winning this would probably not be a huge amount of consolation for the connections of Slingshot Poppy. She is an exceptional performer who found trouble in the semis of that competition. A slower starter inside and one who will move off to her right, she’ll be short but will be very hard to beat.

There is an interesting maiden stayers at Dunstall Park at 6.48 where Dadurunrun can make a successful debut over six bends. He’s only had seven starts so far in his career, winning an A2 on his most recent outing. His dam is the 850y track record holder at Shelbourne, and his litter brother Yourself made a taking debut over six bends at Oxford at the weekend.

Tasty Turkish looked a really smart recruit when making a winning debut at this track in August but things have been tougher since. He chased home Magical Luka in the opening round of the Coral Puppy Cup the following month but has not managed to get his head in front again since the debut. Interesting to see he had a trial at Harlow last week, that could have given him something new to think about and benefit him here.

Premier Greyhound Racing Classic

Ante-post selection - Whitehills Titan 80/1

On the night - Santas Amigo 5/2

The 2025 Premier Greyhound Racing Classic final has a wide-open look to it. Santas Amigo took a big step forward from the opening round to the semis, and given that he has only had those two runs after almost three months off, there is plenty of reason to think that he can go better again this evening.

He may well need to as Bockos Buster has been in flying form, making the finals of the East Anglian Derby and the Scurry, while Unanimous Leon could easily be a big threat now that he has the red jacket on his back for the first time in this competition.

Droopys Sort is yet to click in this competition but needs a huge amount of respect on the Irish form in his book. Coolavanny Mercy has made the final for the second year in a row for Angela Harrison, an outstanding effort while Whitehills Titan, although the outsider of the bunch, has produced some very smart form here when he has been able to dictate.

Arena Racing Company Shootout

Saleen Ri 5/2

Another very competitive final at Sunderland tonight where a quarter of a point separates the top three in the betting. Preference is just for the wide runner Saleen Ri who can burn the candle at both ends, with smart early pace but also plenty of stamina to see out this trip if he turns just off the speed.

He was the quickest heat winner last week and given that was his first run in two months, he is another on the card who could step up on that performance given natural progression after time off. Matts Bomber is inside him in trap five, a dog who is liable to move left and give the pick plenty of room.

Bower Sheeran is the youngest of these, winning for the third straight time in the heats. All of those have come from the red jacket, so it will be interesting to see how much the loss of the inside to Cunnigar King affects him. That rival was a very smart winner last time that he was clad in red at this track, so 5/1 will tempt some.

Toddys Tank is on the other side of Bower Sheeran. He was a Birmingham Cup finalist in November and if he traps on terms, he is a huge player. This might be a tricky field to pass if he is unable to improve on his 5.25 and 5.26 splits the last twice here. The other finalist is Bogger Darling who was a surprise heat winner but deserves her place in the lineup.
