Newinn Jolly was a decent type over four bends, a Ladbrokes Puppy Derby finalist back in March, but he shapes as if a short six bends could be even better for him as he scorched around Romford's 575m in 34.95 during a recent trial. He faces Star Sports Welsh Derby winner Face The Storm in his heat but the lack of a look around could scupper Mike Burton's runner.

The same could be true for Burton's Carrick Scholsey who is favourite for the heat before, where he is up against Teddie. The selection has not been seen since the start of August when falling but two of her three Category One final appearances have come over this track and trip, and she will take some catching if she comes away.

Droopys Poker was a couple of lengths behind Newinn Jolly in a trial to warm up for this event and can give that our best bet a boost earlier on the card. He is a strong-running type over a stiff four bends, so it would not be a surprise if he is suited by this slight step up in trip now. Drawn in five, the runner directly to his left will move further in that direction which can give him plenty of space heading to the opening bend.
