English Greyhound Derby 2027 up for tender

The Greyhound Board of Great Britain has invited expressions of interest from tracks wishing to host the 2027 Greyhound Derby and for the years thereafter.

Tracks should contact GBGB by Monday, July 13, registering an interest in hosting the Derby and be prepared to submit detailed bids by the end of the month.

An industry panel will consider the bids and a decision will be made on or before 7th August.

Following the award of the Derby for one year only in 2026, the Board would welcome submissions for 2027 and beyond.

Timeline

  1. Expressions of interest to be received by Monday 13 July.
  2. Detailed bids to be received by Friday 31July.
  3. A decision by a stakeholder panel to be made on or before 7 August.

Mark Moisley Commercial Director for GBGB commented: "We enjoyed a fantastic Derby at Towcester this year and thank Mike Davis and his team for hosting. Next year will be particularly significant as it will be one hundred years since the running of the first Derby at White City in 1927.

"The process for awarding the venue for this has been brought forward to enable not only the successful track, but Owners and Trainers to plan accordingly. We appreciate the desire for the Derby to have a permanent home so that they can plan for what is undoubtedly the pinnacle of the racing calendar and we very much support this position. We are therefore welcoming tenders to hold the competition for 2027 and beyond."
