Irish Greyhound Derby final crowns the racing week in Ireland
There were some smart runs across Ireland last week but the pick of them had to be Cheap Sandwiches with his BOYLE Sports Irish Greyhound Derby final win.

Ireland's top greyhound winners from last week
Cheap Sandwiches is the only place that we can start, with his impressive BOYLE Sports Irish Greyhound Derby win. He is a dog that is easy to root for, making it third time lucky in a Derby final and giving Graham Holland a fifth win in the race. Only just three years old, it certainly wouldn't be beyond the realms of possibility to see him back for another English Derby bid next summer.
On the clock, the run of the night came from Droopys Faithful who was a single spot off the 575y track record with her win setting the tone for an incredible night in Dublin. She is only an October 23 whelp and is clearly one to watch for 2026 when she has more experience under her belt.
Two of the youngest on the list are Flyers Swiftly and Oriental Copy. The first of those dipped under 29 seconds at Galway, stepped back up to four bends for the first time since her debut. It was only an A6 contest but it was enough to take her into the top 20 times over 525y this year.
The latter is the youngest on the list this week, stepping up on a winning debut the week before. His too was another that found its way into the top 20 times of the year for the 525y, this time at Thurles. It will be interesting to see what he can do next time out in the final of his ON2 competition.
Litter brothers Velvet Samba and Velvet Ring both made the list with their respective winning runs at Dundalk and Limerick. They both have some way to go to match their sister Baroness Velvet who chased home Silverhill Freya in the final of the bet365 Empress Stakes at Towcester but they are both smart recruits.
