Irish open report - Southwind Wild wins the Irish Sprint Cup at Dundalk
The €20,000 to the winner Bar One Racing Irish Sprint Cup went to Southwind Wild last night in a thrilling photo finish with Droopys Patriot in second beaten a short head. Defending champion Broadstrand Syd was back in third just three quarters of a length behind the winner.

All eyes were on the break in the highly anticipated final with every runner in with a live chance. Southwind Wild pinged the lids and was a couple clear at the corner with Droopys Patriot pacing up well to challenge. As they hit the home straight Droopys Patriot stuck out his neck, but Southwind Wild held on by the shortest of short heads to land the €20,000 prize money for connections. Broadstrand Syd ran a cracker to finish third but his bid to win back-to-back Irish Sprint Cups came up a little short. Ballymac Brandan finished fourth, Epic Ace fifth with Stonepark Browne in sixth.
A little earlier on, Sogna Ancora took the Nework It Open 400 open race over taking the race by two and a quarter lengths in 20.91. Danikas Diamond won the Meadthlive.Net open bitches race at 8.45 with a neck back to Ballymac Jade in second.
At 9.35 in the Avenue Inn open race, Exclusion Order landed the €750 prize money on offer with Toolmaker Josepe in second and Zippy Kolbe in third. The final open race on the card at 10.05 went to Woodcliff Duke from T3 with Corduff Mystery in second from T1.
