Irish Performance of the Week - 10 June 2025
Another excellent week of greyhound racing in Ireland where the Tralee 550y track record fell twice on Friday evening.

Irish Performance of the Week
Friday night at Tralee was the place to be last week. Cheque For Cash broke the 550y track record in the first semi-final of the Callaway Pro Am @Stud Race of Champions. That record lasted half an hour before Seven Beach went two spots quicker! The semi between the pair went to Callaway Knegare so the final is going to be an exceptional contest later on. this week.
There was a very smart performance at Drumbo Park as Funny Shorts notched up the seventh quickest time ever at the track over the 575y distance. Over the last six years, only two dogs have gone quicker over this trip and she is still a puppy until the end of this month.
We spoke last week about Amarach Laoch getting off the mark for his career at Curraheen Park. He added to that win straight away and went quicker still, clocking the join quickest time of 2025 over the 525y trip. There were only 11 quicker times in 2024, three set by Bockos Diamond, one by Droopys Plunge and one by Bombay Pat. All of those are Star Sports/TRC English Derby finalists this coming Saturday night!
The youngest winner on the list is Saorlaith who clocked a decent 17.56 in a Lifford sprint. It was the sixth fastest of the year in just her second career start so she could be one that warrants following over the coming weeks to see how much she can progress.
While journalists try to remain as impartial as possible, we all have our favourite dogs. It was great to see the wonderful veteran Kapuka Warrior get his head in front once more at Kilkenny last week. It was better still that it was the top performance at the track! He is 11/16 when running in A1 company at St James Park and shows no sign of slowing down.
