Kamala is divine in the Champion Stakes

The BOYLEsports Champion Stakes final saw a breathtaking win from Ballymac Kamala as she showed the boys how its done from the front in a flying 29.15. She has the quickest time of the year over both 525y and 550y at the track now, stopping the clock 21 spots shy of the track record set by Bockos Diamond in the 2024 Irish Derby, with that runner behind her in third.

There was a spectacular winner of the Time Dundalk International in Ballycowen Frank, breaking the track record in the process. He is an absolute monster of a greyhound, setting a track record at Tralee on his most recent outing as well in the Race of Champions. That level of form is going to see him go a long way in the Irish Derby.

In a week where the weather played a huge part with no racing at six of the tracks, strong runs were few and far between. Ballymac Edith did produce a decent run at Tralee to add to a decent week for Liam Dowling's girls. All three of her career wins have come at this track, though this one is a fair level above the other pair.

There were two sprinters who shared the award at Lifford this week in Glenadda Ozzie and Caislean Champ who both clocked the same 17.59.  Their time took them into a tie for the 10th fastest of the year so far Ozzie is the lesser exposed of the pair, making his debut last week. He is a half-brother to Glenadda Bill who produced the fastest time of the year over two bends at Lifford in 2024.
