Irish Performance of the Week: Cheap Sandwiches Stars Despite Weather Disruption
The weather stopped a lot of the greyhound racing in Ireland last week but 10 tracks still saw action, providing quality performances despite the challenging conditions.

Weather-Hit Week Produces Quality Performances
Slim pickings this week in Ireland with many fixtures abandoned due to the weather. There were still some excellent performances, with Cheap Sandwiches the best of the lot with his win in the Time Greyhound Nutrition International at Dundalk.
While it was not an earth shattering time, a missed break and a few nudges on the way round meant that he was never going to clock a flying run. It is very much the quality of the five greyhounds that chased him home that marks it down as an effort right out of the top drawer.
Repeat Winner Maintains Form
There was one repeat winner last week which was Imokilly Roxanne at Cork. She blew her AA0 final field away with her early pace, now the winner of 16 of her 25 career starts. She is a litter sister to Ballinakill Liam so early pace is to be expected.

Derry's Promising Youngster
Youngest of the bunch was Danas Star at Derry. It was his third win from just four career starts, stepping up from 300y to 500y for the first time. 27.66 is the quickest time of the year so far and out of a dam who ran 28.49 Shelbourne, 28.53 Limerick and 28.57 Clonmel, there should be a little more to come.

Shelbourne Distance Drop Pays Off
Shelbourne was the only one of those three tracks who were in action last week. Keelans Joker dropped back to 550y after contesting the Corn Cuchulainn final. He was never in danger after leading up over the shorter distance.
