Janssens cleans up at Towcester

It wasn’t just the Category One action that Patrick Janssens enjoyed success in at Towcester on Sunday afternoon, he won two more opens on the card.

Romeo Steel put his rivals to the sword when romping home by eight lengths from Table Toppers in division one of the Towcester Standard, stopping the clock at 28.88 (-10) as the 2/7 favourite.

His kennelmate Breton Molly was even shorter at 2/11 favourite and landed the odds in the Towcester Stayers with a length-and-a-half success in 42.94 (-15).

Fabulous Masie (4/1) got up late for Laurence Tuffin to take the second division of the Towcester Standard in 29.65 (-10).

Flow wins by a distance at Sheffield

Distant Flow ran out a facile winner of the Owlerton Stadium Maiden Stayers at Sheffield.

Sent off a warm 4/6 favourite, the Rose Draper-trained bitch secured an early lead and proceeded to pull seven and a half lengths clear of Stay Longer to score in 39.41 (+20).

Dave Fradgley continued his fine form when Rental Crisis (2/1) made all in the Owlerton Stadium Sprint in 15.98 (+10).

Pelaw double for Foot

Glenn Foot landed two of the four opens at Star Pelaw, starting with Barnfield Duke in the Star Sports 435 Maiden Trophy.

The 4/5 favourite quickly assumed command and never looked in any danger, as he crossed the line three and a half lengths clear of Brynoffa Pippy in 25.58 (+20).

His kennelmate Mags Star (5/2) also did the business in good style with a one-and-three-quarter-length victory over Westfield Bullet in the Star Sports 245 Sprint Trophy in 14.40 (+15).

The other sprint open on the card was won by Ken Kennedy’s Space Captain, who justified odds of 2/5 with an eight-and-a-half-length success over Doohooma Rose in 14.51 (+10).

Wonderful Ollie (6/4) powered home to win the Star Sports 590 Stayers Trophy by two and a quarter lengths from Romeo Hotshot in 35.76 (+40).
