Jetstream flies to land £500 Nottingham Final

Just the four opens in the UK took place at Nottingham on Monday evening, the highlight of which was the final of the ARC Gents Standard Trophy over 500m which went the way of the in-form Jetstream Breeze (8/13F), trained by Peter Holland, who gained his fourth victory from his last five starts. Having overcome early trouble when trying to get across to the rails, he set off after the pacesetter Sambar Kian, who looked like he may just hold on, but was picked up close home by the winner in a time of 30.10, with the unlucky in running Quill Quids staying on to finish runner, with a neck separating all three runners.

There were also wins on the card for Simon Deakin, Jim Daly and Nathan Hunt. Transfusion (3/1) obliged for Deakin over 255m when leading round the opening bend to score by 3 ½ lengths in a time of 15.06.

Faithful Friend (4/1) took the honours over 500m for Daly when again leading round the opening bends to score by 1 ¾ lengths in a time of 30.42, following up last week’s open victory, while Zebedee Cluasa (5/1) gained a first victory since December for Hunt when he too led round the opening bends to score over 480m by 4 ¼ lengths in a time of 28.78
