Thursday's Daily Greyhound Racing Tips

Open race action aplenty for today's greyhound tips, with a full card at Hove as well as six over various distances at Newcastle.

***8.36 Newcastle - Coppice Sapphire (3pts) 2/1
**6.26 Hove - Mr Funky Monk (2.5pts) 4/5
*7.16 Hove - Zenith Aslan (2pts) 11/10

Thursday's Best Greyhound Tip

The nap of the night is trap two Coppice Sapphire in the ARC Bitches over 480m at Newcastle at 8.36pm. She was well fancied in the Angel Of The North final over C&D last month finding plenty of trouble and only being beaten just under two lengths before heading to Monmore for a 630m race where things did not go to plan.

However, she burst back to life last week over tonight’s track and trip beating Coolavanny Mercy and Innfield Storm, catching the former at the fourth bend, so as long as she clears Innfield Storm on her inside and gets a clear run, she can prove too much for her rivals again.

Today's Next Best Tip

The next best of the evening is trap three Mr Funky Monk in the Coral Thursday Night 500 Maidens at Hove over 500m at 6.26pm. He was beat by a really smart type seven days ago in Zenith Aslan when trapping well before being reeled in near the line beat half a length in an impressive 29.32 with the winner expected to go onto bigger and better things.

There does not seem to be anything in this race at the same level as Zenith Aslan so as long as Mr Funky Monk runs the race he ran last week, he can lead and make all picking up a deserved success after going so close last week.

Third Greyhound Tip

The third bet of the evening is trap one Zenith Aslan in the Coral Winner Of One 500 Trophy Heat One at 7.16pm. As mentioned above he looks a really nice type going forward for Richard Rees and had to work extremely hard to beat the talented Mr Funky Monk in a maiden last week.

He broke well and powered home so looks to have a bit of everything in terms of ability so if trapping well on the inside, he can turn extremely handy this evening if not in front and once this dog is in front he certainly will not be for catching.

Also on the card is the Coral 285 Sprint Trophy at 8.07pm where Broadway Murty can get the better of Beaming Isla. Kelvins Hat is well drawn in trap one to win the Coral 500 Bitches Trophy at 8.24pm and last years Puppy Derby runner-up Ballymac Kobe can take the Coral Thursday Night 500 Standard over 500m at 9.16pm.
