The Premier Greyhound Racing St Leger and Arena Racing Company Birmingham Cup get underway at Nottingham this evening with four heats of each competition over 480m and 730m respectively.

First up is the ARC Birmingham Cup kicking off at 7.44pm where trap two Cunnigar Yousir takes all the beating in heat one. He is in flying form for Nathan Hunt having won his last three, including two at this track and trip. He should have no issues clearing Cul Na Braithre on his inside and with the early pace on his outside in Kilara Berb and Zebadee Clausa, he can hold those rivals to the corner to lead and make all.

Heat two at 8.01pm is a competitive affair where Unanimous Leon, Ardera Sam, Droopys Suprstar and Racketball Brute are all capable of taking this contest. I am with Unanimous Leon on the inside to lead and dominate. He needs to be off the front to win and although there are strong runners in the race, the fast track at Nottingham plays into the paws of Racketball Brute who can make every yard a winning one.

Ante post Favourite Chelms Bear lines up in heat three from trap two at 8.19pm. He was back to his best last week over Nottingham’s 500m trip winning by just under six lengths so as long as he handles the shorter run to the bend and distance, he should have way too much for his rivals this evening if getting a clear run.

The final heat at 8.36pm sees track record holder Droopys Aladdin line up from trap four. He is not ideally drawn and with that I am with Toddys Tank in trap six. He is in the form of his life having won his last four at Newcastle and Sunderland and trialled well over this evening’s C&D clocking 29.09. With Droopys Aladdin moving in immediately, Toddys Tank can take advantage to swoop out wide to land the spoils.

The PGR St Leger gets underway at 8.54pm where trap two Droopys Flotilla can follow up last week's trial stakes success by leading and making all. A level break should see her lead into the first bend holding Beatties Electra. Garfiney Blaze runs from trap four but hasn’t been seen since Hove back in July. He is likely to go off favourite but I am with Droopys Flotilla to pop out and make all.

Heat two at 9.11pm looks a formality for trap six Deadly Disco. He has a vacant box inside him and finds himself in a race where any kind of run sees him comfortably win this four dog affair.

Heat three at 9.28pm looks a match between Droopys Flare and Mongys Wild. Race fitness is on Mongys Wild’s side and he is expected to get the better of Droopys Flare who hasn’t had a race since March. She has trialled extremely well but the lack of competitive fitness can see Mongys Wild have too much for her.

The fourth and final heat at 9.46pm can give Mark Wallis a quick fire double with trap four Vhagar getting the better of recent track record breaker Fabulous Heka in trap two. She was ruthless when winning the Ladbrokes Summer Stayers Classic at Monmore but was beat just under 10 lengths in a trial by Mongys Wild last week. She should lead if coming away with Fabulous Heka and Clona Ice qualifying behind her.
