A full open card at Romford this evening with the highlights being the Romford Friday Night 500 Standard Final at 8.54pm as well as the Romford Friday Night 500 Stayers Final at 9.11pm.
The Romford Friday Night 500 Standard Final sees Grove Patrick trying to make it a five timer over C&D. He has shown he is capable of winning from different traps in his last four starts with victories from traps one, two and four so being in trap three this evening should not cause him any problems and with a level break he has the pace to clear Yahoo Lolls and Quinton Boy on his inside. He is a strong runner over this trip when leading so if at any stage he hits the front tonight, he will not be for catching and can make it a magic five in a row.
The Romford Friday Night 500 Stayers Final looks a more competitive affair where there isn’t too much separating all six runners here. Untold Paanga in trap two is likely to go off favourite but he is not guaranteed to have things all his own way with Dower Duchess, Out The Blue and Gothic Kitty all capable of going to the bend well so that can pave the way for the strong running Mad For Sterling in trap three to lands the spoils. He won’t be seen early so can bide his time and allow the front runners to run their races before he comes with a timely challenge to get up late on.
There is an interesting 575 maiden stayers heat at 8.01pm with Bombay The Joker stepping up in trip taking on Droopys Prefect who also tries six bends for the first time. I am with Droopys Prefect who I think will stay this trip slightly stronger than Bombay The Joker who if trapping should lead but would fancy Droopys Prefect to catch him if gaining a clear run.
Other selections on the card including trap five Roanna Mamba in the Future Of Racing : PGR TV Standard at 8.36pm, trap two Droopys Manowar in a highly competitive Greyhounds Make Great Pets Standard over 400m at 9.28pm and trap six Droopys Maximus in the Happy 20th Birthday Hayley Smith Stakes over 575m at 9.46pm.
