Joe's Monday Tips
Nottingham host their weekly opens this evening with four across the card including two upcoming Derby hopefuls in Droopys Aladdin and Droopys Suprstar for Michael Burton.
The first open at 7.27pm is the Arc Puppy Dash Trophy over the shorter 255m trip where Droopys Aladdin runs from trap two. However, I am going to be with the trappy Mossrich Karen in trap one who just held on over 305m last week so the shorter trip, short run to the corner and the inside draw should work in her favour to get first run and go on to win. Droopys Aladdin, if coming away, and staying close enough to Mossrich Karen between the two bends would be a big player but I am going to be with Esther Driver’s improving bitch.
The next open is the Arc 480m Trophy at 8.19pm where trap one Droopys Suprstar can head into the first round of the derby with a victory under his belt. The 500m trip would suit Droopys Suprstar more than this but the shorter run to the bend and inside draw can work in his favour with Mallogs Calvin and Velvet Madrid both looking to lead early. That should allow the selection a nice run into the race where he can prove too strong off the final bend to land the spoils.
There are two heats of the Arc Maiden Standard Trophy. Heat one at 8.54pm can go to Esther Driver’s Outdoor Yankee in trap one who comes into this on the back of a three timer in A2 company. This wouldn’t be the strongest of heats so he is well housed on the inside to make the most of a good draw to beat the strong running Malcolm Bosh.
Heat two at 9.11pm can go to Angie Kibble’s Eagles Respect. Similar to heat one this wouldn’t take too much winning, with Eagles Respect in good form at his home track Swindon including a 28.48 victory last time out in A2. He also has the blessing of track experience in the British Breeders Stakes when he was knocked out behind Romeo Empire in the semi-final on March 10.
