Joe's Greyhound Derby tips

Heat 1

A race full of strong stayers with whatever leads expected to go on and win. Tiffield Tarquin can lead and make all if he can trap in similar fashion from trap five to how he has been from trap six. He is well drawn with Sunnyside Broxi moving in from trap four who I expect to qualify as well as Barntick Bear who looks perfectly drawn on the inside in trap one who can make the forecast behind Tiffield Tarquin.

Heat 2

An absolute cracker with the reigning champion De Lahdedah wowing everyone in round one with his truly devastating display. However, he lines up against some very talented types including Table Toppers, Lennies Desire and Ballinabola Joe as well as another heat winner in Soul Choice and Teddie. I am going to be with Ballinabola Joe on the outside who can lead and win. He was electric in round one and expect him to have the legs of his rivals and I can see De Lahdedah being in a bit of trouble if Table Toppers can trap as we know he can.

Heat 3

Another competitive affair where I am going to be with Dynamic Force in trap five. He was majorly impressive when winning well last weekend. A similar break from trap five can see him lead and dominate with strong runners in behind like Hello Diego and Scooby The Boss.

Heat 4

We are yet to see the best of March On Freddie at Towcester. However, he has found himself in a race that could really suit his style of running with Salacres Senan and Slick Sentinel all looking to get off the front. That should clear the way for March On Freddie to capitalise on any mistakes up front where he can pick up the pieces and go on to win. Ballymac Pebb was very impressive in the first round but faces a much tougher assignment in round two.

Heat 5

The shock of round one was not a winner, it was Killeford Goram’s 3.95 sectional catapulting from the boxes to lead Bockos Diamond to the second bend and running extremely well to qualify in second. This heat can go the way of Droopys Aladdin who lowered the colours of Proper Heiress in round one and can back that up with an another quick away always led display. He is extremely lightly raced and certainly needs to be drawn as close to the fence as possible. With his trapping ability and smart early speed, he can lead and dominate with Droopys Bookem qualifying behind him.

Heat 6

Proper Heiress can return to winning ways in a winnable heat that isn’t blessed with early speed bar Hurry Up Brendan who wouldn’t be fast enough to go with Mark Wallis’s charge from the second bend. I fully expect Proper Heiress to win well putting last week's run behind him to get his Derby tilt back on track.

Heat 7

Droopys Plunge's connections could not have handpicked a better greyhound to be drawn inside him in round two with Bedgoodwin Ed lining up in trap one with Plunge in two. That sees Droopys Plunge make it two from two in this years competition catching Churchfield Syd who was one of the stories of the first round and the strong running Vhagar also qualifying.

Heat 8

Phil Milner’s Derby dream can continue with Keefill Goose taking heat eight. He was extremely impressive holding off Singalong Molly in round one and a clean break can see him lead and make all leading Faypoint Susie to the first bend. There wouldn’t be anything in this race that should back run Keefill Goose so he can head into round three with two victories from two starts in the Derby.
