Joe's Greyhound Derby Tips

Heat 9

The opening heat on Saturday can go the way of Aero Sacundai. He was a very good runner-up behind Barntick Bear in round one when not leading until coming out the second bend. If he can lead early, he can pull far enough clear to hold on in a race that looks set to be dominated from an early stage.

Heat 10

Bombay Pat can continue his recent domination of the Towcester track by taking heat 10. He didn’t break as well as he can last week but that seems to be his way. He shouldn’t have any issues clearing the field with a similar break with Uncle Freddie in five giving him plenty of room to work from.

Heat 11

A greyhound who caught the eye of many including myself in round one was Barefoot On Fire who goes from trap three in round two. No Better Feeling and Swift Underwater can give him a nice run into the race and he looks a dog who is capable of burning the candle at both ends. He is my selection here and expected to go deep in this year's competition.

Heat 12

Singalong Molly in trap six has a brilliant make up to work from this evening. Indian Bonnie in trap five can take them along early with his customary early pace which should allow Singalong Molly a dream run out wide to catch the leader following on from her strong running display in round one behind Keefill Goose.

Heat 13

Another Greyhound we are yet to see the best of is Bockos Diamond. However, he has been given a generous heat this evening to be able to strut his stuff and show us he is the superstar we all know he is. Romeo Command continues to amaze with his consistency but he will have to settle for second place behind the ante-post favourite Bockos Diamond.

Heat 14

Romeo Empire away from trap one could have been a concern but the fact he has the slow starting Savana Merapi inside him has helped his cause so he is another who can make it two from two in this year's competition with his strong running style. Droopys Trade, Glory Lord and Back To Black can battle early for the lead that can pave the way for Romeo Empire to swoop off the last bend and go on to win.

Heat 15

No reason why Cooliogold shouldn’t follow last week's heat success with another lead all the way display in round two. It is a competitive enough race with Missile One, Newinn Benni and Keefill Maverick all running well in round one as well as Scooby Pacemaker and the youngster Droopys Heiress who found plenty of trouble in the first round but still qualified. However, if Cooliogold traps level he should lead and win.

Heat 16

We have to wait until the final heat on Saturday evening for the tie of the round. Five first round winners, Faypoint Harvey, Jaytee Craze, Droopys Prefect, Cheap Sandwiches and Boylesports Bob as well as Romeo Steel who ran a cracker behind Faypoint Harvey. This is all about Cheap Sandwiches who can have too much for Romeo Steel off the final bend with Boylesports Bob flying home to qualify as well as Jaytee Craze who needs to work his way through the field. We are going to lose three fantastic greyhounds from this heat but on the plus side, the three who qualify will have a big say in the competition later down the line.
