Joe's Star Sports/TRC Greyhound Derby tips - Heats 1-10
Joe Conneely has gone over the 10 heats of the Star Sports/TRC Greyhound Derby for tonight with a selection in every one.

***NAP - Heat 2 - Tiffield Tarquin (4pts) 15/8
**NB - Heat 9 - Val Tashadelek (2pts) 15/8)
Heat 1
Looks a bit of a match race on paper between Droopys Bookem in trap one and Jaytee Craze in trap three. Icemans girl in four could have something to say about that but I am with Jaytee Craze who has trialled well and looks the perfect type to go deep in the competition.
Heat 2
The well-fancied Untold Rufiyaa in trap three needs to be alert here to clear Bubbly Charger and Salacres Senan on his inside who both possess plenty of early pace so with that in mind, I am with Tiffield Tarquin who is well drawn out wide and stays this trip strongly in a race that could suit.
Heat 3
An intriguing heat with more expected from Teejays Chelms, Ballymac Rapid and Ballymac Sorrel with Maiden Derby winner Hello Diego in the race as well as the consistent Keefill Maverick. I am going to be with Keefill Maverick who is drawn to go well from trap five. Two 28.90 trials show his consistency and a similar run would see him go close here.
Heat 4
Arthur Job looks the type who could go about his business quietly and keep qualifying but I am with Droopys Trade who was favourite throughout the Gymcrack finishing third in the final. A 29.47 trial would be moderate for his standards so I expect more from him and if coming away on terms would fancy him to lead and make all.
Heat 5
It could look tricky for Proper Heiress in trap four with Droopys Aladdin in three but the latter will give the ante post second favourite plenty of room as Droopys Aladdin will dive straight towards the rail so a level break for Proper Heiress will see him get his campaign off to a winning start.
Heat 6
Ante-Post Favourite Bockos Diamond unsurprisingly tied up when third in the Juvenile on Easter Sunday but after missing the break he showed plenty to suggest that he is a worthy favourite for this year's competition. He should not have any issues clearing the field here with a decent break and if leading I would fancy him to go and win well. Greyhound of the Year Wicky Ned can safely qualify behind Bockos Diamond as can Avongate Venus.
Heat 7
A competitive affair where I fancy Gary The Arb to come out on top ahead of Puppy Oaks finalist and Brighton Belle runner-up Dark Madam. He has been laid out for this competition since his runner-up display in the Winter Derby at Monmore back in February with some impressive trials at his home track Hove. He enjoys Towcester and the middle draw can see Gary The Arb break well and win.
Heat 8
Liam Dowling very rarely leaves round one without a few winners and Ballymac Pebb can get him on the scoresheet on night one. An August 2023 puppy who has trialled well including a 15.75 sprint followed by a 29.04 500m trial he can go well in what looks a winnable affair for all sets of connections.
Heat 9
A five dog race with the withdrawal of Savana Jackpot from trap two and that can pave the way for Val Tashadelek on the inside to lead and make all. Romeo Tomcat has all the pace to go far in this competition and he can make the forecast behind Val Tashadelek.
Heat 10
We finish the night with my main ante-post selection Cheap Sandwiches who can start his quest to glory in fine style. He left plenty on the track in his trial stakes win on Easter Sunday but ran the bends extremely well and that can send him in good stead going forward in the competition with Glory Lord and Droopys Invent making it into round two.
