Joe's Star Sports/TRC Greyhound Derby tips - Heats 22-32
It is the final night of the opening round of the Star Sports/TRC English Greyhound Derby where Joe Conneely has tips for every heat.

*** NAP - Heat 23 - Lennies Desire (5pts 4/5)
** NB - Heat 22 - Droopys Maximus (4pts 11/8)
Heat 22
Droopys Maximus has been given a comfortable enough assignment here in round one and should win his heat. A four dog race will help Droopys Maximus who comes into this in fine form and if getting a clear run he will have too much for his three rivals.
Heat 23
Maiden Derby favourite and third Lennies Desire should be suited to being drawn wider than he has been in recent weeks and can make that count in a race where there wouldn’t be too much early pace apart from Slingshot Shaz but if Lennies Desire gets a clear run he should win.
Heat 24
A five dog race and the perfect dogs drawn either side of Barntick Bear to be out of his way early and get him the run he needs. Swift Underwater and Aero Sacundai should take them along but if Barntick Bear is looming off the second bend he can show that burst of middle speed to go on and win.
Heat 25
Ballymac Tibet can get Liam Dowling on the scoresheet on Saturday evening by winning heat 25. Not the strongest of heats on paper, Ballymac Tibet can take advantage of that by leading home Bombay The Joker who can take them along early.
Heat 26
One of the leading fancies in this years Derby and Juvenile runner-up Droopys Plunge can show his class in heat 26. As long as he doesn’t come together with Savana Control early he can bide his time and go on to win in style, putting down his marker on this year's competition.
Heat 27
Another strong fancy of plenty is Bombay Pat and, like Droopys Plunge, he can get his campaign off to a winning start. A devastating display two weeks ago beating March On Freddie comfortably was where we saw the Bombay Pat from Shelbourne Park so if he can continue to replicate that form he is a huge player this year.
Heat 28
An interesting race with Blue Riband winner and track specialist Table Toppers lining up in trap two but has the early pace of Cooliogold on his inside to deal with. That could allow Clona Ice in trap six a dream run with a vacant box inside him so I am with Pat Buckley’s unexposed youngster to take this heat.
Heat 29
Looks a match between the two Irish dogs Barefoot On Fire and Ballinabola Joe where I am with the former Barefoot On Fire. Beaming Outlaw in trap two can do enough early to lead but as long as Barefoot On Fire can keep himself to himself and clear Ballinabola Joe, he can go onto win this heat with six in second.
Heat 30
One of the most exciting greyhounds in training is Headford Asher who is three from three in the UK all at Hove but a 28.76 trial at Towcester on his first looks shows how fast this greyhound is and he can go onto win. Untold Ruble can go with him but he should have enough to see her off by the third bend with last year's Derby runner-up Boylesports Bob back for another crack, and he can qualify out wide.
Heat 31
Puppy Derby winner Bombay Birch heads into this following a lengthy lay off so will need the run and because of that I am with Maiden Derby runner up Ballybough Nutz who ran extremely well in that competition with his blistering early pace. He could get loose from the pack here and if doing so he can hold on to win.
Heat 32
Untold Dollar can return to UK racing with a victory by taking the final heat of the first round that also has two finalists from last year with Sunnyside Broxi and Churchfield Syd lining up. He has taken to the track well with a 28.94 trial and improvement on that can see him turn behind Churchfield Syd and catch him with the strong running Sunnyside Broxi also qualifying.
