A fantastic card at Newcastle this evening with six heats of the Time Greyhound Nutrition Northern Flat as well as six heats of the Arena Racing Company Angel Of The North.

The nap of the evening runs in the final heat of the Angel Of the North at 8.54pm where trap two Bang On Edith can come on for last week's trial stakes defeat by leading and making all. She didn’t come away as well as she can last week before pacing up nicely only to be passed comfortably by Droopys Niece. However if she can come away better this evening and lead from trap rise, she should be able to assert and pull away to put the race to bed before turning for home where Ballymac Camilla can give chase finishing second to Bang On Edith.

The next best is trap one Droopys Bookem in heat one of the Northern Flat at 7.27pm. He of course made the English Greyhound Derby semi-final but has not been seen in competitive action since defeat in the consolation race at Towcester on June 14. His first run back was a more than satisfactory 28.63 trial over this evenings C&D and his strong running style can see get the better of Blackhouse Alan and Elusivenomore who has been nowhere near his best in recent weeks. That can suit Droopys Bookem who has a good make up on the inside in trap one.

The third bet of the evening is trap one Crooks Coco in heat two of the Angel Of The North at 6.53pm. A consistent performer in top grade A1s and also minor open races, Crooks Coco has got a favourable draw in trap one to work from this evening where she could lead with Dominoh Hoo Hoo in trap six. The 480m trip looks a stretch for the latter so if Crooks Coco can turn in a handy position with Domino Hoo Hoo, I think she would have too much for that rival late on with Wraysbury Angel in trap five a big runner if getting a clear run.
