Joe's Thursday Tips

***6.42 Hove - One Slick Jamie (4pts) 11/8
**7.33 Hove - Newinn Benni (3pts) EVS
*8.24 Hove - Art Riddler (2pts) 11/4

The open race action comes thick and fast starting with ten opens at Hove this evening building up to the most important weekend in greyhound racing… THE GREYHOUND DERBY FINAL!!!

The nap of the evening runs in the first open race on the card where trap one One Slick Jamie steps up in trip to six bends in the Coral Thursday Night 695 Maiden Stayers at 6.42pm. A Derby quarter-finalist he was showing how much of a strong runner he was by some power-packed finishes to keep qualifying through the competition and finds himself in a soft enough race for his six-bend debut. If he can hold his line on the short run to the bend from trap one he should prove too strong for his rivals and pick up a deserved success.

The next best is trap five Newinn Benni in the Coral 500 Standard Trophy - Heat Two at 7.33pm. He is another dog who made the last 24 of the Greyhound Derby going out behind Dynamic Force and finds himself in a race where a level break will suffice. The reigning Sussex Cup champion can tick over towards defending his crown by getting back to winning ways this evening with a trap to line success from a favourable make up in trap five.

The third bet of the evening is trap one Art Riddler in the Coral 695 Stayers Trophy Final at 8.24pm. Expected favourite Intriguing Iris has got a difficult draw in six to overcome with early pace inside her including Harlequin Beauty so that could pave the way for the strong running Art Riddler to weave his way through when things get messy up front, so I am with him to pick up the pieces getting the better of Swift Jarvis and Intriguing Iris.
