Joe's Thursday Tips - 14 August 2025
There is a full slate of 12 open races at Hove this evening, plus seven at Newcastle. Joe Conneely has made his racing predictions for the cards.

Hove and Newcastle greyhound tips for Thursday's racing
***6.08 Hove - Zenith Aslan (4pts) 9/4
**9.16 Hove - Bowmers Wildcat (2pts) 7/4
*7.44 Newcastle - Ballymac Lineout (2pts) 6/4
A full open race card at Hove and also plenty of open races at Newcastle to get stuck into this evening.
The nap of the evening is trap one Zenith Aslan in the Coral Summertime 500 Maidens at Hove over 500m at 6.08pm. This dog brings a solid Irish card with him including a 28.73 victory at Tralee as well as a 28.56 defeat at the same track. He has trialled well for Richard Rees clocking 29.64 in his latest four bend trial and looks set to lead this evening if coming away on terms. He should be getting better and stronger with each run so a decent break can see Zenith Aslan lead and make all, getting off to the perfect start in the UK.
The next best is trap five Bowmers Wildcat in the Coral Summertime 515 over 515m at 9.16pm. A Juvenile Classic finalist behind Romeo Alliance at Towcester last month, Bowmers Wildcat followed that up with an impressive display at the same venue a week later before running a big race in third behind Missile One over Hove’s 500m trip last week. The longer run to the bend this evening over 515m should suit him even more and off a level break, he can find himself in front of the main danger Chaddy Boy in trap six who is in flying form at Central Park coming out the second bend where he can pull away to score.
The third bet of the evening is trap two Ballymac Lineout in the Arena Racing Company Stayers over 640m at Newcastle at 7.44pm. The C&D track record holder has bounced back to form well in recent weeks over four and six bends before being knocked out of the first round of the Summer Stayers at Monmore last weekend. He needs to clear Sunnyside Broxi on his inside but should be capable of doing so if coming away level, and from there, he shouldn’t be for catching. Sunnyside Broxi is the obvious danger to Ballymac Lineout but the latter loves this track and trip and I can’t see past him with a level break.
