Lewie all set for Ladbrokes Summer Stayers semi-finals on Saturday

Inca Lewie from the Nathan Hunt kennel made his six-bend debut on Saturday, August 9, in the Category One Ladbrokes Summer Stayers first round heats and took the race by half a length in 38.26 with a victory from off the pace.

Speaking to owner Richard Parkin this morning, he had this to say about the lightly raced son of Grangeview Ten: “He started out at Perry Barr, and we thought he could be a nice type. After making up lots of ground on Da Mighty Man in the Ladbrokes.com 480 Maiden final around Monmore recently, we spoke with Nathan about stepping him up in trip. We left it down to Nathan but were keen to go over six-bends. At that point, we thought a maiden open or something like that to start, but he went well in a trial and clocked 38.17, so we took our chance in the Summer Stayers. It was a great run last time out in the first-round heats. That was our final as owners. We were made up with him. He’s only had twelve runs and is open to improvement, especially over this trip.

Speaking about Saturday and the semi-finals of the Ladbrokes Summer Stayers, Richard Parkin added: “It’s a massive task (his heat), but there’s a chance the inside could come together. They all have similar sectionals. The main thing is he comes off safe and sound. If he qualifies, that’s a bonus.

Richard then went on to talk about the syndicate that owns Inca Lewie and future plans: “We’ve spoken to Nathan about the BGBF British Bred St Leger at Doncester. The Not So Famous Five syndicate is our name, but there are actually ten of us involved now. Some of the syndicate live in the Sheffield and Wakefield type area, so a trip to Doncaster for the St Leger would be great. Any distance from around 515 metres at Hove through to 630 at Monmore should be ideal for him at the moment and hopefully 661 metres at Doncaster next month.
