Michaels Friday Tips - 11th July
All eyes on Romford this evening for an ultra-competitive open race card. Michael Smyth has three selections at the prices on offer.

Michael's Friday Tips
***9.28 Romford – Chelms Chloe (4pts) 5/4
**6.53 Romford – Droopys Metaphor (3pts) 9/4
*7.44 Romford – Devonshire Lady (2pts) Evens
This evening we head to the London Road circuit Romford for an ultra-competitive card featuring 11 Open Races.
The nap of the evening is Chelms Chloe who runs from T3 in the Calypso Moon Bitch Of The Month For June Open Race at 9.28 over the standard four-bend 400-metre trip at the Essex venue. The Yarmouth raider looks well-drawn to clear those on her inside and once on the bunny she’s a sub-24-second performer so it’ll take a good one to back run her. Calypso Moon in T4 has been in flying form of late and looks the main danger. The July 2023 daughter of Ballymac Best has won in A4, A3 and A2 grade in recent weeks and then in Open class a couple of weeks back. She’s improving all the time and would be a runner here with a smart exit.
The next best is Droopys Metaphor from T2 in the Richard Retirement Open Race at 6.53. The Craig Morris-trained railer was ultra-impressive over course and distance last week and a repeat of that 3.72 sectional could see him lead round and make all this evening. The 9/4 on offer looks solid value, trap well, and it's race on. Le Pur Sang makes his Romford debut this evening. He moved well in a trial and would be a runner here with a ping break.
The third bet of the evening is Central Park raider Devonshire Lady in the Friday Night 500 Maiden Stayers Open Race at 7.44 over the 575m trip. Having watched the videos of Devonshire Lady there’s no doubting her all-round pace. She can pop out and stays on well, but she can at times run with the pack. Is the August 2023 youngster green or does she keep a bit for herself? Tonight, from what looks an ideal draw, she could lead round and bolt up in a weak-looking maiden open race. At around evens or odds against she is worth a small play.
