Burton at the double on Monday night

Ex rugby international Mike Burton is enjoying an excellent year with his runners. Both Droopys Aladdin and Droopys Suprstar are Towcester bound for a tilt at the Star Sports Greyhound Derby. The pair both produced winning runs at Nottingham last night ahead of that competition.

255m looked massively on the short side for Droopys Aladdin but he came out on top in the early scrimmaging and there was no way back for his opponents from that point. Droopys Suprstar looked a little lost early on at a new track but he soon recovered himself and from the third bend he proved too strong for Velvet Madrid who is as rock-solid a Nottingham yardstick as there is.

Bellmore Ginger looks a nice recruit for Barry Denby. The October 23 pup has already got a couple of A2 wins on her card, picking up her first open race success in a 500m contest. She is a three-quarter sister to dual Golden Jacket winner Bellmore Sally and a half to Bellmore Cricket who Denby has placed to great effect to win 24 opens.

The other open on the card went to the Esther Driver-trained Outdoor Yankee. It was a four-timer for him after rattling off a hat-trick of wins in A2 grade, getting off the mark on his first attempt in open company.

Upcoming Opens

Tuesday: Swindon

Friday: RomfordSunderland
