Nottingham tonight has the final of the Arc Puppy Classic as well as the Select Stakes and the Select Stayers on the card.
Monday's Tips
*** Annadown Warrior - 8.19 Nottingham
** Carrick Scholsey - 7.44 Nottingham
* Underground Gold - 8.54 Nottingham
The final of the Arc Puppy Classic has some very talented youngsters in it, but perhaps none more so than Annadown Warrior. The Juvenile Classic runner-up is part of one of the most exciting litters to hit the track for a while, with quality top to bottom, and he produced the quickest time of this competition in the semis. Things didn't go exactly to plan that day and he will be better suited to a starting position in four than he was in one.
Things didn't go right for Carrick Scholsey here last week either, arriving for his first look at the track since his debut for Mike Burton, a heat of the Eclipse here last November. He got lost a couple of times seven days back when behind Jet Stream Jane but should be able to run the track much smoother now that he has that more recent knowledge and he can make amends.
The Select Stakes is a tricky contest but perhaps Underground Gold will prove to be a little bit of value. We know from his march through the Puppy Derby at Monmore that when he traps and goes, he is an absolute machine of a dog. He came forward a couple of spots on his second look here from his first despite going backwards 26 on the split! If he can put it all together, there is still plenty of time to be found with him, and he might just sneak around in front.
