Mongys Wild “best stayer since Ballyregan Bob’’ says trainer Mark Wallis

Looking ahead to the Coral Sussex Cup and Premier Greyhound Racing Regency and the eye is drawn to Mark Wallis kennel, with both ante post favourites in the Category One competitions.

Proper Heiress lines up as the 9/4 favourite in the ante post market for the £10,000 Coral Sussex Cup with kennel mate Kilmore Dancer available at 18s.

The Premier Greyhound Racing Regency has attracted a top class field with £20,000 up for grabs.

Mark Wallis plays a very strong hand with superstar Mongys Wild (11/10), Vhagar (7/2), Garfiney Blaze (14) and Bombay Nutty at 16s.

Mongys Wild runs from T3 in heat three of the Premier Greyhound Racing Regency on Saturday evening at Hove.

Mark Wallis had this to say about his Hove runners: “Our team for the Regency & Sussex Cup are in good order. They all trialled very well last week apart from Kilmore Dancer, who we rested after competing in the 3 Steps final two weeks ago. We have laid our team out for these competitions, and all will need the run in the heats, so with some luck they should come on a bundle.

“Mongys Wild in my opinion, is the best stayer since Ballyregan Bob.

A bold statement, I know, but his track record-breaking victories in the TV Trophy & Golden Jacket were breathtaking.

“I’m also particularly pleased with Bombay Nutty, who has really taken a step forward over the last few weeks, though the short run to the bend can be a concern.’’

Looking ahead to the Coral Sussex Cup, Wallis said: “Proper Heiress loves Hove, and it would be great to have him back to the form he showed pre-Derby.

“Judging by last week’s trial, we are definitely on the right path with him. I’m realistic to know things don’t always go as planned, but I couldn’t be happier at the moment.’’

Proper Heiress runs from T3 in heat six of the Coral Sussex Cup on Saturday evening.

Three qualify from each heat for next week's semi-finals.

Tickets for the event can be purchased from the Hove Greyhound Stadium website.

Finals night will take place on Saturday August 2.
