Greyhound Racing Week Returns This August

There are just four weeks to go until National Greyhound Week (NGW) returns for its third consecutive year. This nationwide celebration of licensed British greyhound racing has become a key fixture in the racing calendar, drawing both seasoned enthusiasts and new fans to the track.

NGW 2025 runs from Monday 25 August to Sunday 31 August, and will see tracks across the country host special themed events aimed at showcasing the sport’s wide appeal and family-friendly nature.

Meet Greyhound Racing’s Sporting Legends

The 2025 NGW theme is ‘Meet Our Sporting Legends’. Throughout the week, visitors to greyhound stadiums will have the chance to meet active racing stars as well as retired racers who’ve become beloved family pets.

This initiative supports GBGB’s successful ‘Share Your Life with a Greyhound’ campaign, which featured England rugby legend Joe Marler, and aims to promote the homing of retired greyhounds through fun, in-person experiences.

Local homing centres will also be present at tracks to answer questions and showcase the benefits of adopting retired racers.

Free Entry, Family Fun Days & More

Each participating track will contribute to NGW in their own way. Highlights include:

  • Free stadium entry
  • Special NGW races
  • Family Fun Days
  • Interactive meet-and-greet zones
  • Live roadshows with the GBGB team

The GBGB Roadshow Team will visit multiple tracks across the week, handing out merchandise, sharing updates, and answering questions about racing and greyhound welfare. Regional Regulatory Vets will also be available on-site to speak with spectators about health and aftercare.

Strong Industry Support for NGW

GBGB Commercial Director Mark Moisley shared his excitement about the week:

“It’s fantastic to see National Greyhound Week return for a third year. The last two years were very successful with some tracks recording record attendances for the time of year. NGW is all about reaching out to new audiences and showing what a brilliant sport greyhound racing is.”

He also thanked all licensed greyhound stadia for embracing the event and added:

“We have got some fun merchandise to give away and will be around to answer any questions spectators may have about our sport. I’d encourage everyone to check out what their local track is doing and join with their local community to enjoy all that our sport has to offer.”

Whether you’re a seasoned racing fan or completely new to the sport, National Greyhound Week 2025 is the perfect opportunity to experience the speed, excitement and heart of greyhound racing in the UK.
