New Destiny to retire after the Coral Essex Vase final
New Destiny will race for the final time at Romford on Friday night in the final of the Coral Essex Vase as she bids to gain a clean sweep of the Romford 575m Category Ones.

Just one race left for New Destiny
New Destiny will have her final race - win or lose - in Friday’s Coral Essex Vase Final at Romford on Friday.
One of the best in recent years Mark Wallis’s champion eyes a sixth Category One success in the £10,000-to-the-winner decider at the London Road venue and also aims to complete the set of Romford major 575m titles.
Twice a winner of the Premier Greyhound Racing Champion Stakes and a Coral Coronation Cup champion - and that is just her Romford big-race haul - New Destiny also reached the final of last year’s Essex Vase behind Droopys Eunice.
Then, as this year, the October 2021 daughter of Grangeview Ten and Coonough Dolly will race from the red jacket in the final of the famous event, first run for in 1939.
In addition to her Romford victories, New Destiny won last year’s Arc Grand Prix at Sunderland and the bet365 Challenge Cup at Oxford.
During an illustrious career, the four-year-old also broke track records at Sunderland (640m and Romford (575m) and has won 38 races from 67 starts.
Success for the MWD Partnership-owned New Destiny on Friday at Romford would land a seventh Coral Essex Vase title for champion trainer Wallis after wins for two-time winner Eye Onthe Veto (2006/2007), Reel Trickyone (2013), Adageo Bob (2015), Antigua Romeo (2021) and Aayamza Magic (2023).
“Win or lose that will be it for Destiny on Friday and, of course, we all hope she can end her career in the best possible way. She’s a previous track record holder at Romford and has won three major titles there, so we know Romford plays to her strengths,” said Wallis, who has three finalists this year after fielding four in last year’s decider.
“But we know it won’t be easy,” he added. “Roy’s (Peckham, Tiffield Tarquin) dog is absolutely flying, Belinda’s (Green) Gary The Arb broke Destiny’s track record before the event and Maxine (Locke, Out the Blue) did us last year with Droopys Eunice! So we’re not counting any chickens with our three, but hoping for the best.
“Table Toppers is largely underrated I feel and showed that in the semi-final last week and Silverhill Adam hasn’t really trapped at Romford yet. He’s another fast dog.”
